Vogeltown School in New Plymouth, New Zealand, is a medium sized school over two incredible sites with a big heart and winning attitude.
A co-ed decile 6 contributing primary school catering for children from year 1 to year 6. Under the direction of our Principal Jeremy Ogle, Vogeltown School continues to focus on effective teaching and learning by recognising the value of the whole child. School programmes are relevant, exciting and appropriate to student’s needs so that learning occurs at the optimum level for each child.
Vogeltown School makes effective use of up to date resources and innovative delivery is a school priority. Teaching takes place in positive classroom environments where student success is readily acknowledged and displayed. Our expectation is that we all work hard and have fun at the same time.
A unique feature of Vogeltown School is the Junior and Senior Schools being located on separate sites. The Junior school is directly off the pedestrian crossing and the Senior school backs onto the beautiful Huatoki Domain. A key focus of learning is our immediate environment and its care. The situation of the school right next to the domain facilitates this learning very well.
While the sites are separate, the school functions very well as one. Both sites have extensive playgrounds with good facilities for the children. The teaching staff make excellent use of the outdoor environment and everyone enjoys the use of the grounds for sport and play. The wider community enjoys many diverse social activities at the site including the use of the swimming pool and tennis courts. The library, swimming pool, after school care programme and hall are all situated at the senior school.
The school culture is supportive, safe, caring, adaptable, lively, positive, resilient and open to scrutiny. We are proud of the achievements of our school community.
