VOGELTOWN ADVENTURE 2019

The tradition continues, although this year with a bit more focus on our local curriculum and area. Today we walked all the way from our school and followed our river (awa) ‘The Huatoki’ all the way to the ocean. That is why our school is known as Te Kura O Huatoki in maori, the school beside the Huatoki. Now we know every kid at Vogeltown has walked from the school, followed the Huatoki till it ends. It was an awesome day!

Healthy lunchboxes at Vogeltown

At Vogeltown we promote healthy eating. We promote water for drinking (no fizzy drinks) and make sure we hydrate during the day with our drink bottles in the class.

We are lucky to have a very small number of students who do not have any lunch – and we can provide for them. However we have a big number of students who have lunchboxes crammed with lots of packets of food – of which very little is healthy. To keep it simple and affordable, we have come up with ‘The ideal healthy Vogeltown lunchbox’. (See the picture below) it does not need to be processed or expensive.

Remember we are a ‘PACK IN, PACK OUT’ school so all packaging brought to school goes home as well. Thanks for helping us make Vogeltown a health(ier) and tidier community school.
