Cross Country awards and Rugby Assembly

Kia Ora Whanau,

On Friday we had a special assembly involving 4 of the Taranakai Rugby boys – Te Toira Tahurangi (Hurricanes squad), Ryan Cocker (Melbourne Rebels squad), Leon Power (Brumbies squad) and Mitchell Brown (Chiefs squad). They were awesome! We involved them in a quiz against 4 kids from each syndicate and then a dance off to finish. We also got the boys to help hand out the cross country certificates.

Here are the cross country winners and their certificates (in no particular order):

Replacing the Centenary tree

Today we had to re-plant our centenary tree. The last one got trampled and died 🙁 We decided to get a Titoki tree (or Alectryon excelsus).

Here are the Greenies planting it in to the ground. Lets hope this one lasts! Mr Sole is going to put a fence around this tree, so hopefully in 100 years time, when VS is 200, this tree will still be here.

VS Cross Country 2016

Well today is the day! There are a lot of nervous faces around! All the practice is going to (hopefully) pay off for todays run. This year we are hoping to get lots of parents/caregivers to run with heir kids so that they can earn points for their kid’s whanau! We will also be updating the points board at Assembly on Friday!

More photos will be added after todays run. But here is the plan of attack for today:

Carrington Cup 2016

The tradition that begun in 2006 (yes it is the 10th year this year) of the Carrington Cup continued yesterday with a battle against Central School (the other end of Carrington Road) in Rugby, Football and Netball.

The results were not good for Vogeltown, but the games were played in great spirits! Well done to all the VS kids who represented the school with pride, a positive attitude and showed Central the ‘Vogeltown way’. Well done!!
